106 Sqn / MAVC Remembrance Service, 11th November 2025 - Lest we Forget.
|
After the service, the local school children were given a tour of the Dakota Hangar and refreshments were provided for MAVC patrons and supporters in the Peter Scoley Hall. Thank you to all those who attended to make this such a successful remembrance service. "We will remember them".

Patrons and supporters of MAVC along with local residents and school children gathered at the 106 Sqn Memorial on the old airfield perimeter track today, Tuesday 11th November 2025. Also present were representatives from RAF Coningsby along with a guard of honour formed by 204 ATC Air Cadets. Just before 11.00 AM the service commenced with the playing of the last post, a moving moment on the otherwise quiet former airfield. This was followed by a two minute silence and then by readings to honour and remember all those killed whilst on active service with the UK armed forces, especially those who died whilst serving with 106 Sqn in WW2. To close the first part of the service, children from Mary King's C of E Primary School read out a poem. The remembrance party then moved on to the Visitor Centre where additional wreaths were laid and further readings were made, including a poem read by children from Walcott Primary School.
