Thank you for visiting and supporting MAVC in 2024.
We are now closed to visitors until Saturday 29th March 2025.
Work continues over the winter season by a dedicated team of volunteers to help us preserve the memory
of all the men and women that flew with or supported
106 Squadron RAF Bomber Command at RAF Metheringham in WW2.
Metheringham Airfield was operational between November 1943 and the Spring of 1946.

Notice Board
We were sad to hear that Richard Bailey, the author of ‘In the Middle of Nowhere: The History of RAF Metheringham’ has passed away.
In the Introduction of his book Richard wrote ‘Many people have, no doubt, passed through the site of this once busy airfield unaware that RAF Metheringham ever existed. Those with an eye and a feeling for old airfields may have stopped to wonder what this place was. I was one of those who stopped, drove around the old perimeter tracks, stood on the decaying runway and wondered what life was like for those men and women who were stationed there.’
Richard’s contribution in raising the awareness of RAF Metheringham and supporting MAVC is something we are forever grateful for.
We send his wife and family our condolences at this difficult time.
