ZN News Magazine
One of the many benefits to members of Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre is access to our house magazine ZN News. It is a quarterly publication which has been published since the Centre opened. Our aim is to be informative, educational and entertaining; in other words, “A good all-round aeronautical read, centred on Metheringham Airfield!”
The content is quite varied with many subjects drawing on the historical knowledge and investigatory skills of our contributors. In addition, we feature all the news concerning the Centre, its officers, members and projects. A regular feature is to describe the input made by our teams of volunteers and the extra-ordinary talent and wide-ranging skills
they display.
Contributions from all members are very welcome both in literary and photographic forms. Many pictures published have been submitted by members and are of an exceptional quality. (Please ensure permission is sought from anyone shown in the pictures as per GDPR).
ZN News can be purchased in our shop, but to ensure your regular receipt of it, we highly recommend you take out a MAVC membership.

How your donations help the Museum
Our curatorial team have been busy revamping the Carey Powell Museum room. The room is now themed ‘Our Commonwealth Colleagues’ - sharing stories yet untold of those who came from abroad to serve here during World War 2. We were awarded a grant from the Association of Independent Museums (AIM) to conserve our rare WW2 dinghy.
We were also successful in obtaining a Small Grant from Museums Development East Midlands (MDEM) to contribute towards the construction of a bespoke new display cabinet for the dinghy which takes pride of place in the Carey Powell Room and forms part of one of our educational sessions delivered to schools. The MDEM fund also enabled us to supply new digital display stands and environmental monitors for recording the environmental conditions in the room (located in the original and former WW2 Ration Stores). So, thank you to AIM and MDEM but also a huge THANK YOU to the members of the public who kindly donated to this project with a total of £130 being donated so far. Please consider donating to help us continue with such work. |
