‘Friends of RAF Metheringham make a run for it…along the North Norfolk Coast!’
The 1st week of June will see two ‘friends of RAF Metheringham’ donning their running shoes in an awesome fundraising event!
Running a marathon distance of 26.2 miles along the coastal path from Blakeney to Holkham Hall & back, Ray & Wendy have kindly decided upon RAF Metheringham as their chosen charity after visiting the centre numerous times over the years, most recently this year’s Wartime Weekend.
As a volunteer run organisation of charitable status, Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre is honoured that Ray & Wendy have considered them. Our ethos is to ‘engage all in the education and memory of those who served at RAF Metheringham’ & the charity will indeed greatly benefit from this duo’s tremendous efforts!
As with all the best laid plans in the world of aviation; weather & serviceability dependent, Ray & Wendy aim to complete their marathon on either 5th or 6th June 2017. Ray also mentions that they will depend on ‘getting witnesses to prove that we’ve run it & not caught the bus!’ If you happen to be along the route on those days look out for our runners & give them a friendly wave!
If you would like to sponsor Ray & Wendy or make a donation to their worthy cause, please make your cheques payable to: Friends of Metheringham Airfield & pop them in the post to:
Lincoln LN4 3WF
On behalf of RAF Metheringham & the Trustees & Committee of The Friends of Metheringham Airfield we would like to thank Ray & Wendy for their generous gesture & wish them a blister-free 26.2miles along the glorious North Norfolk coast!
